Within the framework of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems, the digitalization of highway and road infrastructure assets enables the exchange of information between infrastructure and vehicles, as well as among vehicles themselves. In an initial phase, this dialogue will mainly take place in I2V mode (Infrastructure-to-Vehicle), and will later evolve into V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything). Antennas installed along the road both collect data from passing vehicles equipped with specific technology – such as position, direction, speed, and the transport of hazardous goods – and send them messages that help increase safety and improve the travel experience, such as alerts about stopped vehicles, traffic jams, accidents, roadworks, slippery roads, obstacles, or weather conditions. The exchange of information is managed by the Movyon platform, which collects, processes, and validates data and sends it back to traffic control centers and vehicles.
