The project marks an important milestone for the region, addressing an infrastructure need that has been awaiting a solution for almost a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rodoanel Norte, S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s new northern ring road, has been designed to reduce urban congestion and improve connections between the region\u2019s main road corridors and logistics hubs. The opening of the first section represents a significant step forward for the area\u2019s socio-economic development. In a densely populated region with high volumes of commercial traffic, modern tolling solutions such as Free Flow play a key role in ensuring efficient and seamless traffic flows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Movyon\u2019s Free Flow solution addresses the need for a barrier-free tolling system capable of managing complex traffic flows continuously and reliably. Equipped with intelligent gantries, the system automatically calculates tolls based on the distance travelled, allowing vehicles to pass without stopping at toll plazas and enabling more efficient journey times for all road users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system provides accurate vehicle tracking across all lanes and generates valuable data for operational management and verification activities. In particular, it enables:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">vehicle tracking without the risk of occlusions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">vehicle identification and axle counting, with high levels of accuracy that are essential for the tolling of heavy vehicles in Brazil;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the generation of panoramic images of passing vehicles at configurable time intervals, supporting manual review activities and the identification of violations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The implemented system consists of Free Flow gantries equipped with Movyon\u2019s MLFF technology, featuring advanced panoramic tracking and state-of-the-art axle-counting systems. The solution also includes multi-level transaction processing through an Operational Back Office (OBO) and a Commercial Back Office (CBO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Movyon managed the entire process, from the design, production and installation of the steel structures to the installation and cabling of the equipment, as well as system configuration, testing and commissioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gantries are equipped with two side-mounted panoramic cameras that enable continuous tracking of vehicles in transit. The software processes video streams in real time, providing operational data and panoramic images to support verification activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Particularly relevant in the Brazilian context is the vehicle identification and axle-counting system, which is essential for the accurate tolling of heavy vehicles. The technology combines laser sensors, video analytics cameras and axle-counting cameras to detect the total number of axles, identify lifted and grounded axles, and detect twin tyres, including on vehicles with up to ten axles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deployment of MLFF technology on the Rodoanel Norte delivers tangible benefits, including smoother traffic flows, a more seamless travel experience for all road users, more efficient infrastructure management and control processes, and high operational reliability, even under heavy traffic conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scalability and adaptability of the gantries made it possible to address operational challenges quickly, complete the project within the agreed timeframe and obtain system approval from the regulatory authority of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo, ARTESP, without any observations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opening of the first section of the Rodoanel Norte marks an important development for mobility in S\u00e3o Paulo, supporting regional logistics and helping to reduce urban congestion.
