Electronic Toll Collection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) enables drivers to pay tolls automatically using an On Board Unit (OBU), eliminating the need for cash or card payments at the toll point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OBU communicates with roadside antennas via Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) technology operating in the 5.8 GHz frequency band. The lane controller captures the transmitted data, associates it with the vehicle passage and generates an electronic transaction that is sent to the central platform for processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The result is a faster, more convenient experience for road users and a more efficient, fully traceable toll collection process for operators.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How Electronic Toll Collection works<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

As the vehicle enters the tolling zone, the roadside DSRC antenna establishes communication with the On Board Unit installed inside the vehicle. The exchange of data enables the system to identify the device, recognize the tolling context and associate the vehicle passage with the corresponding contract or toll service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lane controller coordinates information from the different roadside subsystems (pre and post classification detection system, vehicle identification system, front and rear number plate reading system), generates the toll transaction and transmits it to the central platform for processing, clearing and reporting. The entire process takes place automatically, without any action required from the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on the tolling infrastructure, Electronic Toll Collection can operate in dedicated ETC lanes or alongside Stop&Go and Multi Lane Free Flow systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
