The trial, promoted by the <strong>Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport<\/strong> as part of the activities of the <strong>National Centre for Sustainable Mobility (MOST)<\/strong>, took place on the <strong>Tangenziale di Napoli<\/strong> using technology developed by Movyon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the first time in Italy, it was possible to provide connected vehicles in real time \u2014 including a <strong>self-driving Maserati GranCabrio Folgore<\/strong> equipped with the <strong>robo-driver developed by Politecnico di Milano<\/strong> \u2014 with guidance on the optimal speed to maintain along a motorway section open to traffic. The aim is to prevent congestion, improve traffic flow, enhance the driving experience and reduce emissions and journey times by up to 15%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system developed by Movyon enables <strong>direct communication between the infrastructure and vehicles<\/strong> through a network of antennas distributed along the road section and onboard vehicle devices. Information collected by traffic sensors, gantries and smart cameras is processed by the traffic model developed by the University of Naples Federico II, which is able to suggest the most suitable speed to ensure optimal traffic flow.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group t99-sezione has-custom-bianco-background-color has-background has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"padding-top:80px;padding-bottom:80px\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center pattern-col-txt-img is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-99517e63 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-f2eb30b7 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the trial, both a <strong>connected autonomous vehicle<\/strong> capable of automatically adjusting its speed in line with the instructions received and <strong>several Tangenziale di Napoli vehicles<\/strong> were used. These vehicles were enabled to receive the same information and make it available to the driver via a tablet installed in the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this way, connected vehicles adapted their speed in real time to network conditions, promoting a \u201c<strong>green wave<\/strong>\u201d effect, reducing waiting times and increasing overall safety. The first tests, carried out on a <strong>3 km section between Vomero and Fuorigrotta<\/strong>, have already shown significant results.
