Multi Lane Free Flow in Chile

A Multi Lane Free Flow tolling system has been implemented for Grupo Costanera in Santiago, Chile.

Movyon implemented a Multi Lane Free Flow tolling system for Grupo Costanera in Santiago, Chile, contributing to the digital transformation of motorway infrastructure and introducing a smoother, more efficient and more sustainable mobility model.

The project involved the installation of 53 gantries across the network, equipped with smart devices and integrated with an advanced software platform. This architecture enables free-flow tolling, eliminating the need for physical barriers and allowing vehicles to pass through without slowing down.

The system automatically detects vehicles using different technologies: it identifies the On Board Unit, captures number plate images and determines the vehicle classification by category. This process ensures accurate and continuous transaction management, even in heavy traffic conditions.

Where onboard devices are not present, the solution still ensures correct payment processing through advanced automatic number plate recognition systems, guaranteeing service continuity and an uninterrupted user experience.

In addition to improving traffic flow and reducing emissions associated with queues at toll booths, the system provides the concessionaire with advanced tools for controlling and managing the infrastructure. Monitoring, diagnostics and reporting features make it possible to optimise operations, increasing the overall reliability of the system.

This project is a concrete example of how digital technologies can enable new toll management models, with tangible benefits in terms of safety, sustainability and efficiency.
