Tolling

Toll management solutions

End-to-end tolling solutions for every charging model: from Stop&Go toll lanes to Electronic Toll Collection, Multi-Lane Free Flow and satellite tolling systems.

Toll payment becomes smart

Movyon designs and integrates tolling systems that address the diverse needs of motorway concessionaires, road authorities and toll service providers.

Its comprehensive ecosystem includes toll lanes and gantries, roadside equipment, on-board units, lane controllers and central software platforms that transform every vehicle passage into reliable data – and every data point into a seamless, manageable transaction.

From conventional toll collection systems to the most advanced digital solutions, Movyon enables operators to manage payment processes, financial information, devices monitoring and diagnostics through a single, integrated ecosystem. The result is greater operational visibility and efficiency for operators, and a faster, simpler payment experience for road users.

Build the tolling system that best fits your network

Every road network has its own characteristics, including traffic volumes, payment methods, existing infrastructure, regulatory requirements and operational objectives.
To address these different scenarios, Movyon offers four scalable solutions that can be configured to meet specific project requirements and integrated with third-party systems.

Stop&Go

A toll collection solution for staffed, unattended self-service (Automatic Toll Payment Machine – ATPM) and hybrid toll lanes. The system manages vehicle classification, payment processing, transaction validation and centralized information management, supporting cash and card payments according to the selected configuration.

Electronic Toll Collection

An electronic toll collection solution based on DSRC communication between the vehicle’s On-Board Unit (OBU) and the roadside infrastructure. Toll transactions are processed electronically without any manual action from the driver, improving lane throughput while ensuring secure and fully traceable transactions.

Multi-Lane Free Flow

Barrier-free toll collection without lane channelization. Intelligent gantries detect, identify and classify vehicles travelling at normal speed, while the central platform correlates all collected data and automatically calculates the due amount.

Satellite Tolling

A GNSS-based tolling solution using satellite-enabled On-Board Units and mobile connectivity. Vehicle positioning data is processed through advanced Map Matching algorithms to reconstruct the travelled route and calculate toll charges based on the actual distance or route travelled.

From vehicle passage to data, from data to value

Movyon’s tolling solutions cover the entire toll collection value chain, including roadside equipment, antennas, vehicle classification systems, on-board units, lane controllers, software applications and central management platforms.

Data generated by the different subsystems is collected, correlated and transformed into complete toll transactions, enabling operators to promptly identify anomalies, support back-office processes and continuously monitor system performance.

The ability to integrate third-party devices and applications also allows operators to leverage existing infrastructure investments while supporting the gradual evolution of their tolling network.

From system design to day-to-day operations, Movyon integrates technologies, devices and software platforms to deliver smarter, more efficient and connected toll collection.

Automated processes and centralized information simplify operations and reduce management complexity.

Structured transaction, event and diagnostic data provide complete visibility into system performance.

The solutions integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure and third-party systems, adapting to different technological environments and operational contexts.

The progressive digitalization of toll payments reduces manual operations, stops and traffic conditions that can lead to congestion or sudden braking.

Multi Lane Free Flow

Movyon’s Multi Lane Free Flow solution allows vehicles to pass through tolling points without stopping, slowing down or entering dedicated toll lanes. Intelligent gantries equipped with advanced detection, vehicle classification, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and On-Board Unit communication technologies capture all the information required to identify each vehicle in transit.

Stop&Go

Stop&Go is Movyon’s toll collection solution for lane-based toll plazas, designed to adapt to different station layouts, traffic volumes and operational requirements. Toll lanes can be configured as fully staffed, completely self-service through Automatic Toll Payment Machines (ATPMs), or as mixed environments combining multiple payment methods. This flexibility allows road users to choose the most suitable payment option while giving operators a unified view of all toll collection activities.

Electronic Toll Collection

Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) enables drivers to pay tolls automatically using an On-Board Unit (OBU), eliminating the need for cash or card payments at the toll point. The OBU communicates with roadside antennas via Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) technology operating in the 5.8 GHz frequency band. The lane controller captures the transmitted data, associates it with the vehicle passage and generates an electronic transaction that is sent to the central platform for processing. The result is a faster, more convenient experience for road users and a more efficient, fully traceable toll collection process for operators.

Satellite Tolling

Toll system based on OBU GNSS (satellite) that sends vehicle geolocation data to the central platform via the mobile network. Through a sophisticated Map Matching algorithm, the system processes the data and traces the route of the vehicle, allowing the route to be verified and the toll to be defined.
